The recruitment clinic is open to ages 13+.
Try-outs are open to rising high school juniors through college transfer students.
During the clinic, dancers will spend time learning a mixture of sideline, pom, and hip-hop performance choreography. They will work on skills across the floor, warm up, and participate in pom basic drills with the Erskine College Dance Team. Dancers are welcome to bring their poms for the sideline/pom portion of the day (we won’t be using poms during auditions for technique purposes). We will open the clinic up to parents/friends, etc. during the last 30 minutes. We ask that all dancers come performance-ready with their attire, hair, and make-up done as if they are going through an audition.
Dancers who plan to audition for the program will want to attend the clinic to learn the material for it. Auditions will include skill performances, improv, and material from the clinic. The judges may ask you questions about yourself following the audition. Solo performances are an optional performance for dancers who are auditioning. This is so that we can see them perform a dance that is familiar to them. If a dancer has a parent/friend they would like to video their solo they can watch this part of the audition as long as the dancer is comfortable with it. There will be a break between the clinic and the material review for dancers to get lunch. The material review will consist of a review of the audition materials and will include open time for dancers to work on their own and get feedback from the Coach/Judges. Auditions will begin after the review time is completed and dancers will be broken up into groups based on their year in school. Once group auditions are completed there will be time for soloists to change and warm up on the floor before performing.

• 8:30 am – 9 am Registration/check-in.
• 9 am – 1 pm Recruitment Clinic
• 2 pm – 3 pm Open studio/material review
• 3 pm – 6 pm Audition/solo warm-up/solos

• Sickle Cell results – these can be obtained from your birth records through your doctor’s office (Required to try out).

• Apply to the College and add "DANCE" as your sport

• Jazz shoes (what ever form you are comfortable wearing)
• Sneakers/hip hop shoes
• Poms (if you would like to bring them)
• Solo costumes (if you would like to bring this)
Cost:
• $60 – this price includes an Erskine Dance Recruitment Clinic tank (If registered by March 16th).
We will also have additional Erskine College Dance Team gear for purchase at the registration table throughout the day.
